Is it because the Japanese are not white they can get away with it, thats what it sure seems like. I constantly hear **** on the news about the government trying to integrate schools and work forces. What's the point of "diversity" when in most cases blacks conglomerate with other blacks, whites with other whites, mexicans with other mexicans, asians with other asians, etc. There is NO strength in diversity. P.S. Affirmative Action sucks, even though I am a white female.

The answer is very simple although my answer would be too dammnn long, LOL.

We (yes, I am Japanese) do not believe "strength in diversity." We do not need foreign blood in our nationality. In fact, no foreigners can be Japanese even if you are born in Japan. Being a Japanee is not a nationality; it is strictly a blood succession.

Don't get me wrong. I am not a racist. Everybody is welcome! here in Japan. Its a great fun to be friends with people from overseas, to work with them, to have karaoke party together, to go sightseeing together, to discuss politics together sometimes even if we are wide apart...you name it, its fun!

Going back to your question, yes, we do not have serious racial conflicts or problems with foreigners in Japan. Because there is a clear line between Japanese and foreigners legally as well as mentally. We appreciate Japanese government for keeping a strict control over foreingers in Japan in order to secure our social stability, job market and national security.

Despite the fact that a large number of people from overseas are living, working and studying in Japan, we have no racial conflict with them. Because they are not a threat to us as long as this clear line is respected by both parties.

Instead of "Strength in diverity," I would say "Strength in separation based on mutual respect." How does that sound?
Am I racist?

Japan maybe noticed there is less merit taking "diversity" for their immigrant policy.
Not only Japan, the East Asian nations are similar and can be said they are mono culture (like a soy sauce bottle?).

98% of the population is Japanese in Japan.
92% is Han people in China (Of course there are many small ethnic groups as well. see Wikipedia).
98% is Han Chinese in Taiwan.
Nearly 100% is Korean in S.Korea.

I think East Asia is seen they don't want to repeat the same failure occurred in the Western countries, such as the riot in France and the racial conflict in London, etc.
I wonder who said there are a merit of the "diversity" (of course there are many depends on the category).

Singapore changed their immigrant policy some month back. I read many adverse opinions on the net. They say it is too easy to get Singapore passport today.

because it really is their coverage and political technique. and probable East Asian international places, which includes Japan, do no longer imagine the racial variety is chuffed answer. Registered overseas electorate in Japan are 2M (million), formally. The inhabitants of jap is 127M. this suggests the foreigners are decrease than 2%. Taiwan is analogous. ninety 8% is Han chinese. In Korea, i imagine almost 100% are Koreans. In China, seventy 5% are Han race chinese. although, different minorities also save on with the Han race's language and element of its lifestyle. because Mao Zedong set the rule of thumb to apply their language, Mandarin, as their valid language. Many minorities have already lost their personal languages. contained in the East Asia, you isn't waiting to assume the racial variety like the U. S. and Europe. Even in those international places, I doubt no matter if or not they attempt to admit and settle for the variety for Muslim ppl. East Asian international places have discovered what are reliable and undesirable of the racial variety. they gained't repeat a similar failure got here about in those multicultural countries. e.g. The revolt contained in the France, racial conflicts in London, and so on. And in Japan, I might want to upload yet another appropriate actuality to the "tolerant of different cultures". jap do not settle for different cultures as itself. They manage each and every thing by way of their hand and turn them into their personal lifestyle. eg. you'll locate many western lifestyle in Japan, although, also locate the established, usability and style are distinct from the west. East Asian countries are chuffed with immediately's subject. and each and every countries are very close, 3-5 hours flight purely. go away them on my own.

After having spent a short time in Japan while I was in the Navy I can tell you this much. I saw signs on restaurants and bars that said Japanese only, and they meant it too. They are basically a closed society. They have every right to be after all it is their country. They can speak English very well for the most part but only choose to when it comes to doing business outside of their own country other wise you speak Japanese or your are screwed. They have been that way for thousands of years and there is no reason for them to change because of what someone else thinks and that's the way it should be,unlike us here we bend over backwards to please every other culture while we forget our own.

obviously you fail to see the race relations between the koreans, chinese and other asian cultures who dog each other, ask a korean what they think of vietnamese people and you'd be surprised,as far as each culture attracting to itself, well back in the eighties when I went to school, all the races got along, until they forced bussing into the schools, then we all realized what differences we had with each other, and yes I'm white too but my school was mostly latino and black

Because they speak the second hardest language in the world to learn, they live on an island, and there's not enough single women there, and they're excellent in self defense and won't put up with any other cultures bull sh.it. So, no one wants to go there.

They're on a small, over-crowded island. There's no real room for anyone to emigrate to the nation.
