Good question-too bad the pit didn't go after the beaver instead.

Yes.

I hope the daugher wasn't hurt too badly.

In almost any case the dog is wrong.

I'm assuming the beaver is a pet or it has no bearing on what happened. If it's not a pet, then a wild animal chopped down your fence and you neighbor is in no way responsible.

Your fence was down for how long?

When did you notice it?

Was it before your dog got out?

Was the daughter doing something to the dog?

Has your dog ever been aggressive?

Even if you didn't notice the fence was down or know the dog would attract anyone, you are still accountable.

I would do whatever it takes to keep this out of court.

1 Put the dog down, NOW. It has already attacked one person, if it attacks another one, kiss everything you own or hope to own goodbye, and pray you don't go to jail.

2. Hopefully you neighbor won't sue, but you're going to get stuck with all the medical bill, and plastic surgery if she needs it.

If this goes to court, count on losing, putbulls have a very bad rep. and it's going to be hard to overcome that. If the daughter is young, you'll have almost no chance of winning.

Good luck, I think you're going to need it.

How much time elapsed from the beaver chopping to the pitbull running? If it was immediate, I don't see how you are liable for the damage to the daughter, although the dog will likely be destroyed anyway. Courts are fickle, though, so who knows for sure? Why does your neighbor have a beaver? Are you a law student?

Did the beaver use an axe, if so then the beaver should have axed the dog, but in my case, fence or no fence, that dog is history, and if you want to tag along then so be it.

Who would own a beaver?! Isn't that illegal? Anyways, they are more than likely going to hold you accountable, because that's just the way our crappy law works. In either situation, they are NOT going to let you keep that dog.

Let's get down to basics here. My pit bull attacked their daughter. Yes you sure are. Say good-bye to your dog. Sounds like your dog deserved to have a better, and loving, owner.
