What makes soap bubbles so colorful? Nodes, longitudinal waves, intereference of light? standing waves?

same for oil slicks or really thin plastic

50 nanometers = gold
150 nanometers = purple

you would be very surprised at what light actually looks like. Light is basically a whole bunch of differents colrs and when we look with the naked eye all the colors make what we see of a white or yellowish light but if u could break up the different colors which there is a way to do this u would see rainbow like colors the bubble is just reflecting tiny amounts of light thus the diff colors
