Guys who are promiscuous are heros and women, at least in your eyes, who do are categorically sl%ts. What is up with that?

I think that it is a lack of guidance from their parents. I also think that these girls have no one there to talk to when they need it most. They usually have had a bad run in with one or more males in their lives, and there dads are usually either not there physically or emotionally or both. They tend to have low self esteem, and lack validation from those they turn to. They are trying to seek validation and love by being promiscuous. They think that at least for that moment, this person likes me and is making me feel good.
It really is sad that so many young girls go through this.

they lack a good self-esteem. They are looking for acceptance in all the wrong places. And there is a lack of parental guidance and support. I am speaking about an intimate and personal relationship with the mother and father so that the child can receive guidance and direction. These girls do not have a reference framework and are easily trapped into fooling that by sleeping around with different partners, they will be be accepted into a relationship. They lack a sense of belonging and hope to find it in these fleeting 'relationships'.
They should not just be judged, but rather be befriended so that helaing can take place.

Mostly it's peer pressure; school's hard for any teenager... that or growing up in a household where you have role models that are leading promiscuous lifestyles could be a driving factor as well.
It could be attributed to so many reasons.
One of those include the fact that the girls themselves have such low self esteem, constantly seeking validation - in all the wrong places unfortunately.

I'm glad you asked this question and it just so happens that this is what I'm writing my thesis on. My viewpoint is one of the family. Let me start by saying that teenagers want agency (power in their life). They want to be in charge of themselves. What I found in my research is that regardless of gender, if a parent gives independence and autonomy to their adolescent, then the adolescent will be less likely to act out in a risky sexual manner (i.e. a lot of sexual partners). If the parent controls/monitors every aspect of the teen's life, then the teen will try to gain agency in other ways. One of these ways is through sexual behavior as it is one of the few things that parents cannot actively monitor (unlike curfews, access to cars, friends, etc.) Therefore, if a parent does not grant the adolescent agency, then that teen will obtain it through sexual behavior.

While peers do influence teens, I found that the parental effect is much stronger than the peer effect.

Depends. Some people feel the extreme need to be liked, often because of childhood abuse.

People repeat the pattern that they learn from their parents.
