The only real way to learn the moves is to do them over and over and over. First, get in front of a mirror and make certain that you are hitting the right position. Have someone check you from the side. Even if it looks right from the front you might be slouching or have flyaway arms. Keep practicing hitting those moves again and again. Then test yourself by closing your eyes, hitting the move and then looking to see if your arms ended up where you _thought_ they were headed.
As far as learning motions in sequence for cheers and dances, go slowly, make sure you are hitting each move cleanly. Do the first move or two over and over, then add two more moves, then two more, then two more until you have learned an 8 count. Do it a few more times to really get it to soak in, then go on to the next 8 count and break it down into pieces and build up to learning all of it. Then do the first 8 count and connect it to the second one.
It also helps to have names for the moves. This is easy for your standard cheer motions like high v and so forth, but some dance moves may not have a name, so give them a name and say them each time you do that sequence of moves.

Practice!!! That's how you get good at anything. As for memorizing cheers, work on the words first. Once you know the words and have the rythem, add in the motions. Something I do with my team is the "hit" game. It is done to help memorize and help with motion placement and sharpness. We don't use the words to the cheer. I start by saying 1-2 Hit. On "hit" my girs hit the first motion. We repeat that until they all hit it together and sharp and tight. Once they have that, I tell them to hold it there. Then I say 1-2 Hit again. On hit they go from the first motion to the second. Once they hit that well, we start from ready position and I say "1-2 Hit, Hit" and they hit the first and then second motion. We do this for each individual motion in the cheer. It helps them a lot! Hope this helps! Good luck!

Remember facials : they're crucial. Do vowels with your mouth, a, e, i, o, u, while doing movements. It helps [: Be tight in your moves as well, make it as clean as possible. Master jumps, be as flexible as possible and work on it everyday. Say the cheer over and over in your head even when you're not practicing, it helps you remember. Hope it helps! -Katy
