Yes to both. You should have a porfolio containing al of this relevant information including any letters of reference or a list of references if you have one. If the interviewer asks you for a copy of your resume it will look good on you to have one. This shows that you are prepared. Remember to let your references know that you will be using them as a reference, it is polite to check with them first. Good luck!

They won't read the cover letter in the interview. Just take a copy of the resume just in case they forget to print one off.
If you submitted a cover letter with the app, go ahead and take it just in case. But don't bring in new material.

I do--just in case they ask for it or they cannot readily locate the copy I had previously sent to them.
I take it along in a nice leather folder (the type that would hold a legal pad)..of course, I have a legal pad in there to. If the climate seems right, I jot notes down during the interview. It makes me look like I am really interested in the job.
It also gives me something to do with my hands while I am in the interview :)

Print it all and bring it just in case.
If the interviewer fumbles trying to find your resume, hand him/her another copy on decent paper (not wrinkled, etc.).
If it requires a portfolio or writing samples, bring those as well.

Take as much information as possible, it is a plus if you are asked a question, that you can produce an answer.
