I had to use it once on a 460 FI ford front cover. It split in two and I could not get one fast enough so I cold weld it then put a liberal cover of silicone (RTV HI-TEMP BLACK) over the weld sealing it under the silicone. Its been 5 years and no leaks. The bolts hold the cover inplace and if the weld broke the silicone still held the oil and any crankcase pressure in.

Permatex Cold Weld Bonding Compound works better than JB. Remove any paint. Area must be cleaned with something like lacquer thinner or alcohol thoroughly. Rough up area with 100 or 80 grit. Put it on at least 1/8" thick.

just get a new timing chain cover. JB Weld is good, but those covers are cheap. it'd be a better idea just to get a new one.

I haven't used it in ten years, but I did use it on a valve cover and on fitting (low stress) that had completely broken off. Both applications worked perfectly. No problems, easy to use.

go ahead and use it, it will work fine as long as you follow the directions on mixing it, I used it on the block of an engine and it held fine.
