Would someone please explain to me the appeal of really butch lesbians?

I am not being a smart@ss. I would really like to understand the appeal of really butch lesbians. The women I like tend to be softer and more feminine. I'm not attracted to the butch at all, but I know that many many women are. Again, I'm not being a jerk, I would just like to know.

I think I can answer this since I fall into that category.

Most more feminine women seek butches out because we are a masculine compliment to their femininity. Could it be that they *gasp* want to imitate heterosexual relationships? Hmm..now there's a thought for ya.
Also, they like the "protector" image. They want someone strong and confident who will be like their "protector", like a "knight in shining armor" kinda thing. They want the GOOD qualities of males, without the equipment. Most butches are actually very gentle, kind, and sweet to their partners and show them a lot of respect. Many times, femmes have us wrapped around their little fingers. They like a butch's dominance, the assertiveness, the ********* (that's what I hear as the biggest turn on), and that we have "butch confidence". We're very independent usually and are very low maintenance. Also, a lot of the time, we tend to think more logically aren't aren't into as much drama.
It's also good for a female to have a partner that can fix their car, fix things around the house, lift heavy things, and open pickle jars and stuff I guess..lol, I dunno.

P.S. Also, I think it's a good match, because I don't know, (obviously since I've never been there), but it seems like two femmes together would fight over clothes, shoes, and using each other's makeup...lol.

I totally agree with 'I color outside the lines'...

Also, I'm a butch, and like women who are soft and feminine. I, however, am not soft and feminine. I don't "look" like a guy, yet I have more masculine ways about me than I do feminine. Such as in the way I talk and dress. Femmes like me cuz I act more like a guy but don't have all the umm err stuff that goes along with em. And I sure don't wear any makeup, bows or frilly things either. I like bows and frilly things and satiny soft, ummmmm on another woman.

Am not sure I understand totally what you are asking, what appeals to us as a butch lesbian, or what makes us appealing to other lesbians? Hope I've answered the question the way you meant.

Now if you are speaking of really really butch lesbians, (ie 'stone butch' or 'dykes'), they simply do not appear to be feminine in anyway, nor do they want to be. Their interest can be anywhere from the ultra fem to butch lesbian to another stone butch.

I adore butches. But the type I like are the gentlemen, the cowboys, the shy guys and the geeks. I don't like the sarcastic or cocky types. Confidence is always sexy.

Are you sure you don't like butches? :-) What about kd lang during her 'Ingenue' period? What about Tracy Chapman, during any period? (She may have long hair, but trust me, she's butch as hell).

I can tell you, though, most butches are 100% woman. They don't want to be men, they are just somewhat manly or boyish. Those traits are an adornment, and very sexy. Unless she's fat. But then, some people like that.

it's just a matter of personal preference and personal tastes. I have butch friends, but I'm attracted to women who are more feminine. I have nothing against them at all, I have several friends who are pretty butch. some might find me to be a dyke or possibly very soft butch, but I don't identify that way....I'm just not very girly. I do wear makeup and jewelry, I just don't wear dresses and heals. different strokes for different folks!

How can I explain why I am attracted to something?? I just am. Fems & soft butches don't do a thing for me, but a k.d. lang type catches my eye everytime. Always have! What I would like to know is, where are these women???????? They aren't in northeast PA, THAT'S for sure!

I often think about this too. I am a fem who's only attracted to fems. But i have gorgeous fem friends who only date butch/studs. It really is confusing because these girls could get who they want so easy but they don't because they are attracted to studs.Which is fine with me, you know whatever floats your boat ; ) I think it comes down to what they are looking for, they might be looking for a female who's a muscular protective figure with a persona of a guy but still has a female emotion side. We look for fem girls who are nice and soft and who are very famine persona. just personal preference i guess : )

Everybody finds different things attractive. Maybe it is their facade of toughness, their straight-forwardness, and their confidence to be themselves in a society where the standard for girls is to be feminine. Underneath their exterior, they are just a person like anyone else.

Im a fem and i like the butch and stud to me i like it better becouse i like to know who is in demand in my relationship but they need to know there place to. im not trying to be mean but when i see to fem looking girls they are sexy but dont look as good as a fem and a stud or a fem and a butch look.

most ppl who are attracted to really butch lesbians are more femme themselves. it's just the type of person they like, just like you tend to like your woman more femme. every one is attracted to something different. just all depends on the person.
