Play Dungeons and Dragons?

Question

Sup. A few months ago I bought the D&d basic game for 14.99. Played it with my 10 year old brother and a few friends several times. I pretty much liked it. But then I could not find anyone who played the game. Whenever I asked my parents(grew up in late 70's) they never took me seriously and teased me by calling me a "nerd". I am not the person you would expect to play D&D( im a jock.) How can I find people to play?
