http://www.familysearch.org/ - Provided as a free service by the LDS Church and contains hundreds of thousands of indexed names.

http://landing.ancestry.com/immigration/main/ - Ancestry.com, normally a fee-based web site, offers through the end of 2006 free access to its new passenger list database. yahoo or google searches with the name and something like the word family tree or history always work BUT WATCH OUT most of the sites you can get history of your family will have you pay and jip you out of money also only go back one or two generations.
