You didn't mention anything about country of origin, date of arrival, which states the family lived in, etc., but here are several free sites that could help you:

http://www.familysearch.org/ - Provided as a free service by the LDS Church and contains hundreds of thousands of indexed names.

http://landing.ancestry.com/immigration/main/ - Ancestry.com, normally a fee-based web site, offers through the end of 2006 free access to its new passenger list database. (You can also get a free 14-day subscription to ancestry.com, which is an excellent site for finding all sorts of other records.)

http://www.rootsweb.com/ - A massive, free compendium of data.

http://genealogy.about.com/cs/free_genealogy/a/free_sites.htm - A list of many other free genealogy web sites.

http://www.accessgenealogy.com/ - Another list of free web sites.

This should be enough to keep you busy for a while. Best wishes for success in your search.
