the most important thing is learning to "read the ball" or follow the path it travels. this means that if the ball is shot from one angle and a certain distance it will most likely end up at a certain spot. this is important so you can put yourself in position to actually get the rebound. POSITIONING is more important, more often then being able to jump high. anticipation plays a part as well since if you have an idea where the ball will bounce from watching the flight, you actually have to get there before the shot hits the rim or backboard. so have someone shoot the ball and place yourself around the basket and watch the ball. ACT to the shot, dont REACT.....then work on blocking out and timing your jump etc..... good luck and have fun playing. its a great game!

Aggressiveness underneath. When you get a rebound hold the ball in front of your chest with your elbows extended out to the side. If you catch a couple people with an elbow they will subconsciously back away when you get close.

Put a ball on the ground and practice boxing out someone and then have them box you out and try to get the ball. Also work on geometry and the angle at which the ball will come off.

well...
like everyone else said box out. put your but out and push the defenders away. if they reach over top of you, the refs are supposed to call a foul. (they don't always)
jump high to get the ball. immediatly when you get it, bring your arms down with the ball to around your waste. ellbows out! pass to the outlet and your on your way.
hope this helps

knee the defender in the family jewels. you'll see a huge increase in offensive rebounds no doubt and defenders will get the message and back off.

Box out, and be agressive to the ball. Don't be soft.
