You would expect people to ask questions to seek opinions and provoke intelligent debate but i've noticed lots of people asking.......

Whos the president of this country? In what year did such n such happen?

Why do you people tie up yahoo answers with questions you can get in an instant through basic research?

Are you that stupid? Have you never heard of Google?

I have no idea and it irritates me.

I actually think to myself many times, "You sure are stupid, why don't you just go research it yourself, you'll find what I do most of the time; what a dummy!"

that's a very good question!
I'm going to try to give you an answer by saying:
I've been using the internet since before America online. I can't even remember the first browser I used. I don't even think it was a browser. Prodigy was the second thing i used. i'm not trying to brag, i'm saying that i've been using search engines since they came out basically. In my honest opinion, they have always been and still are poop.
we come to the internet because we have a question we want an answer to. it's easier to come on here and just ask it rather than trying to sum up your question into key words so that a search engine will go and find those words. Y! answers is great because it allows one to ask and get almost instant answers for you by real people who are (most are) here to give help to ones in need of knowledge.
Also, another reason is; I'm sick of using search engines, search bars, search windows, etc. They haven't changed much over the years. it's still the same old ___. I like asking people my questions from my laptop sitting in a cafe. Rather than "searching". call me lazy, but in my opinion its more work doing this than googling something. it takes more time, but if you have the time/patience, by all means, ask the online community. it's more pleasurefull if that's a word.
please, disregard the few questions i've asked so far on this site lol.
I'm giving this answer not based on me really. I just tried to give an example that would best answer the question. I call it, redfield's style.

Yes,its true that some questions are easily researched online. But sometimes,it not the answer they are seeking, its the answerer's reaction.Besides, there no such things like a stupid question.

I think it has to do with the personal touch that it's almost like having a substitute teacher to go to in order to help with a question. It's like you are stuck trying to find an answer alone, and having a real person on the other end is a kind of emotional support. Also, people tend to throw in some background with their answers so you're benefiting from their experience, and it's not like you're reading some dull answers from a text book. Plus, if you see that more than one person has the same answer, it kind of backs up what the first one said (unless they saw that answer and they're copying!) Anyway, it's nice to have someone care enough to assist.

The internet is so new to some people that they don't think to use the internet to get questions answered. And sometimes a conventional search engine doesn't work - I tried to look up etiquette conventions for a Hmong wedding, and got nothing. On here, I got an excellent answer. For some things, human beings are still better, like love making! ;)

the two they are too lazy or they actually do no longer understand the thank you to define such answer on line by different techniques. in any different case, on account that basically approximately each thing could be spoke back by on line seek, why might there be this form of provider called "solutions" different than some thing like "Survey" or "poll" or besides the fact that? BBS and professional communicate board or blog already grant the places for "evaluations and sensible debate" however.

There are as many answers to that question as there are askers. ; )

Some are new to the internet, some are not sure how to search, some are afraid to search, and some enjoy the interaction with others.

I still believe the only "stupid" question is the one not asked.

No question is dumb to ask; maybe they don't know how to find it in the web; maybe they like the interaction; maybe they have a bet about the answers they get; it is all fun and good,
Oh, BTW, after asking THAT question, you really have to change your name from The Wise One !!!!!!!!!!!
And how rude to call other people stupid.........

Because some people are not good at researching or maybe they have reasearched it and could not find an answer. So they go here and see if anyone knows on here.

Cause they are as dumb as me, if not dumber. And if you were smart you would know that, or at least you would deduce it. Lady, I must admonish you.
