Are they dinosaurs who are hurting the party, or are they still relevant?

Can we dislike a black person or disagree with them WITHOUT is being BECAUSE they are black? Jesse and Al don't think so.

Their feelings are relevant, just as your and mine are.

Race relations is a sticky issue. Like the immigration reform issue, there are those who are willing to play the "race card" just to further their agenda. Everyone opposed to illegal immigration is suddenly branded a "racist". Everyone opposed to "quotas" is branded "racist".

Doing this widens the divide between "us" and "them" and moves the issue to the "back burner". Jackson and Sharpton are very good at doing this, getting issues ignored by playing the "race card" every chance they get. Everything is a race issue to them because that's what they know best. They have seen the race wars from the front line. While I sometimes like their positions on certain issues, I don't always agree with them. I guess that makes me a racist I their eyes..

There are African Americans I like, and African Americans I dislike. I judge people "not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". Jackson and Sharpton need to take a step back and remember those words and the man who said them.

"Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred."

I think that they are continuing to defend the underdogs of the Races of the World. Let's face it, racism is alive and well in America, and the rest of the world. Black people continue to be harassed, discriminated against, and excluded in areas of life simply because of their race. There are even many racist individuals on this site, seeking to inflame the racial tension initiated by divisive, insulting questions such as this one. Blacks in this Country have been enslaved, segregated, lynched, economically and educationally arrested, as well as professionally suppressed. Black people in this Country are racial orphans without true acceptance, and no Homeland to return to, therefore they have had no choice but to struggle continuously for freedom, justice, and equally which has yet to be totally achieved. Don't be intellectually dishonest, the Playing Field has never been equal, and probably may never be...

I don't know what would be worse, making a racial issue out of everything or assuming that there are no racial issues anymore.

Well first off, I find both gentlemen to be political extremists, and a mere shadow of the former glory that was Martin Luther King Jr. (whom them learned from).

One one hand, they do seem to blow things out of proportion quite often. On the other hand, I'm not black, so I don't know what I'm talking about so much as an African-American does.

Ugh they are embarrassing. Everything is about race with them, that and getting their face on tv. I wish they would just stop talking altogether.
Of course you can dislike a black person without it being because they are black.

doctor king would roll over in his grave to see what they are doing...everything is not about race like they want you to beleive. they need to start sticking up for everybody regardless of race...i know im not being very PC but a lot of black people are more racist than whites...i've seen it myself. not everything is about race like the undercover cops shooting and killing that guy in new york. the first officer that fired was black and the majority of the officers involved were minorities, but you wont hear about that from the "reverends"

Without their ability to create racial conflict where there isn't any, they'd have to actually get jobs and stop living off those they claim to be helping.
