i understand that if you are 17 years old then your parents have ti give you permission to get your ged. but what if they live far away?? do they have to be present???

No.. it can be taken by correspondence BUT.. there must be an accredited organization of some sort that can assist with the GED where you are taking it.

It is good that you are looking into the GED if you are not going to go back to school. The GED is run by each individual state, so each state can have different rules. Rather than depend on people around the world to get this answer for you, I would advise calling the local school district to get this information.

I'm not sure if they have to actually be present or not. It may be possible for you to have them sign a paper and have it notarized and mail it to you. If that wont work I am pretty sure you can get the GED on your own after you turn 18. Good luck!!!

i would say you or the teachers could mail them the forms, or have the GED teacher to fax it if possible.

congrats on going for GED, your doing the right thing. i am doing that right now myself. it is not hard at all. especially for you, you should be at or very close to the current necessary level to pass it quickly. i am at the level, and i have been out of school about as long as you have been alive ;)

Why don't you just go any finish school??? Sorry to admit this...but people look down on people who have thier GED...believe me I know.
