Have you had any luck with those online survey companies that pay people to take their surveys? If so, can you tell me what some good ones to sign up for might be?

Careful, some are scams. I wish it were that easy to make money. Then again, I could have made poor choices.

I make about $20 a month through those. I've listed some of the sites I have taken surveys through and actually been paid (or recieved other rewards like gift cards or CDS) on the following site:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

I list how they pay you, what I like and dislike about them, whether they have an affiliate or referral program, etc.

There are others out there. Be careful though, there are also scams. Don't sign up for any survey site which asks you to pay to access the surveys. Also watch for language like "get paid for taking surveys AND SIGNING UP FOR OFFERS" if you don't want to have to sign up for stuff with other companies to get paid.

Always carefully read their terms of service and privacy policy. If in their privacy policy they say they only use aggregated info, this is GOOD SIGN they are legit. Aggregated info information that is grouped together so it can't be connected with anyones personal identification like name, e-mail, phone or address. That's what survey sites SHOULD collect. Avoid sites that say they give, rent, or sell any personal information (info that is not agregated) to third parties (unless you really don't mind getting junk mail, telemarketing calls, and spam).

Also just recently came across a good survey ratings site that I've found very helpful:

First of all you should never have to pay a company to send you surveys. These are some that i use and have had good results and they are all free to join. I am in the USA but many comapany's use people from all over or have affiliates in different countries if you live outside the USA. If your going to use a new company check it out first, a good place is www.surveypolice.com or check to see if they have been reported to the Better business bureau.

If you do use any of these please put brittquade as the person who refered you if your asked.

The best site i've found is SurveySavvy. It's free to sign up, they are a member of the better business bureau and you start earning cash right away! The more people you refer, the more money you can make. I made $20.00 on my first survey!

There probably are some that are legit, but I hear you have to do a *lot* of work to finally get paid. You're better off just working a normal job.
You can also try to sign up for psychology experiments. Those sometimes will pay you for helping out.

I use the Ciao! website and they are very good indeed. I'm not sure if they are fully international yet but it's worth checking out.
