I have taught Kindergarten for 4 years. Don't spell the name different. It will confuse her teachers for years to come. Also, you will never be able to buy anything with her name already on it. My child's name is Gracie. Seems normal to me but nothing ever says Gracie - it only says Grace. Also, Think about her having to say her name and then spell it every time she is filling something out or calling out her name to someone. She won't just be able to say "Andrea Jones" She will have to say "Andrea with an 'Au' or Andrea with an 'O.' Keep it simple.

When I see people with "different" (wrong) spellings of names, I tend to think the parent wasn't bright enough to spell it correctly. Andrea is a pretty name, why change it?

What is wrong with the spelling that everyone is familiar with? Don't take a name that has a common spelling and change it and make things difficult for your child. That is just selfish. She will always have to correct people when they spell it incorrectly. And, frankly, people will not think the spelling is 'special,' they will just think it is 'wrong.' Think about the child's self esteem.
If you want for your child to have a unique name, then give her one. There are plenty out there, or you could even come up with a new one. Why take one that had is established with a certain spelling and change it?

Keep it as it is - a classic. There are two pronunciations, tho. I prefer the softer "Aundrea" instead of short-a "Andrea"
