I have recently heard that in Feb 2004 in the Central Park Zoo in New York, a pair of male Chinstrap penguins were given an egg to incubate and successfully hatched it. Other Pengs have formed same sex pairs.
Zoos in Japan and Germany have reported Male penguine couples having built nests together and used a stone as an egg substitute.
Bremerhaven Zoo in Germany tried to break up the pairs with female penguins from Sweden but the bond between the older birds was too strong.
Can anyone confirm this? If so, THREE CHEEERS FOR THE PENGUINS.
A little humorous touch. Rose P

Yes, I've heard about both the New York and Bremerhaven penguins. I enclosed some links for confirmation.
I like the comment that the Bremerhaven Zoo director made, "Everyone can live here as they please." It would be nice if anyone anywhere could live as they please, also.

Yes. I have heard about such things. There are many examples of homosexual and bisexual animals in nature, just like heterosexual couples. Love is love. I think it's cute.

On a side note some people are upset because they say the kids movie about penguins "Happy Feet" has a homosexual theme cause the main penguins father disowns him for being different and dancing. Lol. It's like they need something to fight about.

yes, I have heard that story. and many more about all kinds of species of animals exhibiting homosexual behavior.
there has been a children's book written about it called "And Tango Makes Three" that some parents across the river in Illinois are trying to have pulled from the school library shelves. last I heard, the school had refused to do so....yay for them!

Scientist theorize that homosexuality rates go up when an animals population gets to high. I heard penguins are the only ones that have a higher rate than humans.
