Here's the situation: I bought a house 12 years ago. The neighbors to 1 side (must be 90 and senile by now) have been constantly harrassing me ever since I moved in.

They are forever comming onto my property. They caused a handyman I hired for $2500 to walk off the job because they were harassing him too. They leave annoying messages on my answering machine and every week for the past 5 years have moved my trash can from the edge of the driveway, into the middle of the driveway. I get home from work well after dark, must stop the car, move the trash can and then pull into the garage.

I have told them to stay off my property. I have even gone so far as to block their driveway when I was particularly annoyed at having to play their game in the rain. I'm fed up but it seems like such a petty issue to call the police about. What would you do?

Incidently, I keep the trash can in the garage except on collection day.

Wait for them to die and then breathe a sigh of relief. If you pursue legal courses, it will end up costing you more than it is worth and just exacerbate the problems. But, calling the police is free. maybe the police will talk to them for you. You could try to get an Adult Protection Order, restraining order depending upon how bad the harassment is. Do not hire a lawyer. It will just make it all a bigger loss. Good luck! Gosh its terrible what they're doing!

Have you tried talking to them? Ask them to stop. Or if they have Alzheimers talk to their family and care givers and them for relief. If their family members visit, you can tell them about the harassment and say that it has to stop, or these people need to be hospitalized.
