All the answers that claim Clinton was impeached are wrong. According to the Constitution of these United States in Article I, Section II states that the House of Representatives may bring impeachment charges against the president. Two US presidents have been subjected to this phase, Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.

However, here is the kicker: According to Article I Section three "The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present." ,

NO US president has ever been convicted under these specific rules. Therefore NO Us president has been impeached (which is also why none has been removed from office after impeachment). Johnson's vote failed by 1 and Clinton's also failed as we can all remember.

By the way, people, the whole point of an impeachment is the removal from office. If the impeachment succeeded then these men would have been removed from office in disgrace as their enemies so dearly wished. It didn't happen and I really wish Americans would learn our own history before spouting off to the contrary.

3 presidents have been tried for impeachment - Johnson, Nixon, and Clinton.

2 Presidents were impeached - Johnson, Clinton

1 President resigned - Nixon, when it became clear that he would be impeached.

0 Presidents have actually been removed from office.

Impeach really just means to formally accuse. When a president is impeached, it means they have been charged, it does not mean they have been removed from office. Many people do not know this.

Okay, this needs to be clarified.

When a President is impeached, this means that an impeachment trial will occur----NOT that a President loses his office.

Andrew Johnson, the 17th president was impeached, and Bill Clinton was as well. But in neither case was the impeached President convicted.

So, short answer, 2 US Presidents have been impeached.

Bill Clinton was impeached 1998 (I think we all know why) and the only other president was Andrew Johnson in 1868 for replacing Secretary of War Edwin Stanton for Lorenzo Thomas in violation of the Tenure of Office Act of 1867. Both Presidents have been aquitted of all charges.
