I have a friend that was in prison for six years. When he got out he met and began living with a woman that was a user of men. Even her mother warned him.

One day he said "I should break my parole to get away from her." I was astounded that he would find returning to prison a viable remedy.

Institutionalized (at least mental patients) people have trouble assimilating in society because they are ao accustomed to a very structured and orderly way of the hospital/institution. They are used to being told what to do. They also don't do as much for themselves...
