because the Beatles are popular, they always have been. And sadly some people think that knowing the chorus of "help" makes them cool...it makes me sad too

Everyone's a poser in their own little way and most people don't try to be. Personally I LOVE the beatles. I have two of their Anthologies, the whole White album and a couple random songs on mixes and whatnot. But yeah, it's the "cool" thing to like old music like the Beatles nowadays which is weird. Especially since most people only fake, like you said.
Anyways, I think it's ok, it's not that big in the scale of things.

Well, I never claimed to be a Beatles fan. But once I had one song stuck in my head...I believe it was Lucy's in the sky with diamonds and I couldn't remember some of it. I was working at Spencers at the time and a girl came in wearing a beatles t-shirt. So, I asked her as I checked her out what the rest of the lyrics were. She seriously said to me "Are you sure that's a Beatles song? Are you confused with Led Zepplin or something?" God, she was so stupid. This has happened before with other people wearing Green Day shirts and Metallica shirts.

Like Tiger lily, I've been a huge fan since I was a child. I remember watching them on Ed Sullivan! OMG! does that date me, or what? My Mom was a big fan and so are my kids. The Beatles are timeless.

i believe the 1st answerer! do no longer purely like a band as a results of fact they are the "in"element of like or besides the fact that! relatively understand some thing relating to the beatles! i'm going to place it to you like this, ask those people who call you a poser if the jonas brothers ever finished something on the brink of here: did they motivate different artists and bands to place in writing their very own songs, did they alter the artist/producer relationship in the studio, did they alter the way song replaced into made in the studio, did they make an effect on pop way of existence it quite is being felt on an identical time as we communicate, did they made it well known for adult males to have long hair, did they alter the way human beings stumble on rock communities by no longer having the time-honored front guy with backing team, did they redefine what it meant to be a worldwide celeb, did they motivate different musicians to apply specific gadgets and song businesses to make gadgets, did they motivate different bands and artists to talk their minds relating to the proper subject concerns of the day,did they help to alter the concept of the rock album from being a variety of of songs to a artwork of artwork, did they unofficially made english the language of rock and roll(to that end inspiring many distant places musicians to be taught english),lennon and mccartney have been between the 1st songwriters to have a stake in the publishing of their songs, help to motivate different rock communities to create their very own checklist label, carry the song of india to the west by being the 1st to apply indian musical gadgets on checklist? choose i bypass on... i think of this quote from the compleat beatles says it extra constructive than i ever could:"it will be stoically prevalent that the beatles have been in the top a phonomenon of the 60's,the 70's and previous have been purely to sense their effect."

The Beatles were popular a long, long time ago.
I think somebody can be a fan of theirs without knowing a lot of their songs.
It's not like you hear them very often anymore.
Lighten up dude.
