In the day I was a bit of a lad, the true rock god! In a band, leather clad and one for the ladies. All to the tunes of the rock scene of the time - kiss, Poison, Whitesnake, Def Leppard etc......

Now I've just seen an ad. for a rock compilation album...........

.........with all these bands on it.....................................

.........the ad. ends with the voice over saying 'buy it for your dad'!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH - how did this happen - in my head I'm still 21. Am I old?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! At least...you just, I mean, YOU CAN'T BE! Because then I'd be old too, oh dear, quite the predicament we're in! I do see your point, as it is my own of course, and no I just cannot except that I'm "old". Societal and marketing standards be damned! Why are they suggesting buying it for a "dad", better to point out the value in playing it for that nice bird who teaches you history everyday ....you know, the one with the fantastic legs....the one you secretly want to seduce you after class one day. Now THAT's Rock & Roll for you mate! That's the reason we all flocked to the scene...the days when it was about real music and real women. Old? I think not! I say, lads forever!

It happens to us all eventually, mate. I've seen that ad too and felt the same way. Still, when you play the CD, you ARE 21 again, so the music is like a time machine back to your youth and you can never grow old listening to it.

Yup. It sucks. Look, I was a 'grunge' boy myself- the period right after that bad hair bands glam metal of the 1980's, which u reffered too... Use to play in garage bands covering Pixies, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, The Tragically Hip, Alice in Chains...

Now all these bands are old too. Most kids don't even know who these bands are... My hair was thrown back last week when a teenager claimed she never heard of Nirvana or Kurt Cobain, but was ranty to me about Panic@The Disco... And I thought- "WHAT THE HELL!?!?!"... So I feel freakin old too, bub....

If you enjoy nothing but the music from your youth and fail to embrace the new rock, then yes. But the truth is those bands are friggin awesome and should be worshiped...just don't get stuck in their time and refuse to enjoy what the newbies are coming out with

Yes... OK, I'm kidding. Just cuz u like music recommended for or from a certain era means nothing. I like many 50's music but I also like Techno, Hip-Hop, pretty much anything. Don't worry about it. If u r losing hair, then yes, u r old... or sick.

You are old mate. I am 26 and I listen to all the modern bands. Rainbow, Jethro Tull (listening to them now), Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, the Who, ACDC...
... actually...
... yeah I'm old too. Lets cash our pensions together and get some more rock music to listen to on our cassette walkmans while we use our free bus passes.
