All you need to do is keep water in the tree stand. Nurserymen and horticulturists do not recommend adding sugar or other additives to the water. Turns out that plain old water is the best.
If you have a whole house humidifier, make sure it is operating. Low indoor humidity will tend to dry a tree out faster than a humid environment.

Good luck with your christmas tree.

Water daily. We add Sugar or Karo Syrup to help the tree absorb the water better. Not only do our trees stay fresh but they barely drop a needle before Christmas.

We always water it every day that first week. Then, you can watch your tree and slack off accordingly. Depending on the size of the tree you may have to water twice a day.

Also, there is the long life tree preserve you can get at any drugstore. You just mix it with your inital water. Ours always lasts until the first week of January - when we take it down.

You can buy little packages of "tree food" at stores like home depot or lowes. You empty it into the water container your tree is sitting in and it keeps the tree fresh
