Astrophysicists study the universe and individual objects in it, such as Stars, Black Holes, etc. They need to understand Physics at a very high level. Their information is invaluable, but since businesses have little use for it, there are only a handfull of Astrophysicists whos work is funded. Many who choose this field teach for a livelihood and work with whatever resources they can think of.

Astrophysics doesn't "do" anything, so to speak. It's a field of science (astronomy) that deals with physics of the universe (planets, stars, etc.) Click on the link below. Maybe you're asking what astrophysicists (scientists that study astrophysics) do.
