Nearly all fuel pumps have been located in the gas tank since the switch was made to computer controlled fuel injected systems. Carburated vehicles normally used low pressure/volume mechanical pumps run by the engine from the earliest days.

Fuel injected systems require more pressure for the injectors to accurately meter the fuel into each cylinder. Excess fuel flow is generally routed back to the tank thru a return line which keeps the gas cool and prevents vapor lock. The advent of the electric fuel pump mad it possible to increase reliability, reduce pump weight, and locate the pump in the tank which both protects and cools the pump.

I think all the newer vehicles that are fuel injected have the pump in the gas tank. The way I understand it is the fuel system is pressurized and is constantly circulating gas between the engine and the fuel tank. The injectors take what they need and the rest goes back to the tank to be circulated again. Getting it replaced will set you back at least 200 bucks if not more as the fuel tank has to be dropped to access it.

the fast answer isn't any, the hot gas pump itself proabably isn't the reason. There are different variables: a million. Did the tech do a ideal interest of fixing the gasket/s for gas pump and gas line attachments. i'd suspect both of those 2 products to be time-honored reason. 2. reckoning on age of gas tank, it will be rusting by and the technique of eliminating the tank for gas pump alternative might want to have sped up the leaking situation. 3 The tank might want to were damaged from highway debris.

Because it would not work very well if it was in the glove compartment. If you listen to the parts store employee from auto zone and install one of their cheap junk pumps you will be paying for tows and replacing it every month when it fails. We have a saying in our field, quality shops use quality auto parts. Or how about you get what you pay for.
