I'm talking about fresh greenery from evergreen trees-pine trees etc. and decorating for Christmas. I thought I heard once to spray with hairspray?...Thanks for your help!

I have always had fresh evergreens, and I have never had bugs. Do you live in a warm climate where the insects don't freeze? I'm just curious why you would have a bug problem. Here, the temperature is below freezing, so bringing in a fresh tree would have no live insects in it.

Put a 1/2 cup of Clorox in a spray bottle and fill with water. Spray the plant to prevent the bugs from hatching.

Take any greens that you suspect of having insects on them and dip them in a solution of water and insecticidal soap. Once removed, let dry and you should be go to go for the season. If you can't find the insecticidal soap (Lowes or garden centers) liquid dishwashing detergent will come very close.
Good luck.

well...the best thing would be to spray it with pesticides before bringing into your home. but if it's too late for that get an ant trap. they have a sweet honey thing inside them, so the bugs are attracted inside, but they can't get back out.
