I've known her since first grade. She's never really had like.. the best selfconfidence even when she was little, and when we got to intermediate school then junior high, she doesnt have like much at all! I mean, we have our differences, and I'm okay with that, but she doesn't seem to try. She thinks she is ugly, and wears make up to make herself seem better.. when to me it doesnt matter, maybe cuz shes not putting it on right. (just eyeliner and mascara) And when we're in social situations like on our bball team, she never goes out to like talk to anyone, and she only sticks to me. I'm pretty shy too around new people but I'd still go out there and atleast have an effort. I've told her this but like.. it doesnt work. maybe she needs to go to speech cuz her voice isnt too clear either, but that could also be cuz of her low self esteem. she also hates like all the popular ppl for like no reason who i say are just like her, and in return they dislike her too. ahh help! i'm concerned..:/

We geminis can be shy. Its not really a lack of self esteem though...it was more like....well, I never felt like I belonged in that group. When I moved to England that was different. I was a nice girl, it seemed to me that most of the kids in school were jerks, they were too. I didn't really break out of that until I came into myself as I got older. I was never asked out in Jr Hi or High School by a single guy in school. I dated, but it was men not boys. I was pretty surprised at the 20 yr HS reunion the guys that approached me and knew my name......
I woud suggest that you guys go to the Mall one day and have a make over...both of you. Try some clothing styles that you like but haven't been brave enough to try. Learn to flirt....go ahead and smile at a cute guy you pass....when she does these things and she doesn't die she will get over them. What bothers me most is that she is judging the more popular kids....they are popular for various reasons....some of them are quite nice I am sure, but some are jerks! Just keep being her friend, introduce her to your other friends too. Maybe you can convince her to join a club, or start one. God knows there are enough shy kids that they could start their own club! Theres a thought!
