Not a "guy" thing--a rather common thing for most people! "Don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow" thing. I don't know if what I do would be called a "system" but by gum it works. I "listen" to what people say they wish they had, & know what interests them. All during the year when I'm out & about & see something--I buy it. Then I have LOTS of time to wrap "pretty" packages! I really splurged earlier this year & got my best friend a $230. mandolin, (no, not the music kind, it's kitchen stuff), & she's going to LOVE it, because she'd never spend that kind of money on herself. Aren't I a nice little "elf?" Merry Christmas!

Do it ahead. There's no other solution.
Why? We have a 14 month old son, and going shopping is an all-day event. Doing it alone with my son while my husband works is almost impossible! By the time we start shopping, there's a dirty diaper or he's already dropped his cup of water. Shopping that once took 2 hours now takes 2 days!
Sometimes my husband and I will take turns shopping, but this year we finished the day after Thanksgiving and even then we only had one item to purchase. It feels nice not to have to worry about battling the crowds.
AND because we were careful, we didn't spend as much. We budgetted something like $200 for everyone, and we spent slightly over $100.

I always try to be finished, or nearly so, before Thanksgiving. But I still like to get out in the craziness of the crowds near Christmas. It's a hoot watching people go nutz looking for something I bought 2 months ago. So call me a sadist lol.

When I buy ahead of time I end up way overspending. I have to wait until the last two weeks--even then I always end up buying more than I should. I am one of those people that just get so excited about a gift I bought someone that I have to give it to them right away. Then I feel obligated to make sure thay have another big gift to open on Christmas. So then I buy another gift. Then I tell them about that gift....and it just goes on and on.
I did it again this year--and Christmas isn't even here yet...LOL

a touch both. If the client who plans ahead is conscious the recipient ok, then the present is many times fantastic. yet notwithstanding, if the perfect minute shopper buys an positive present, that's good too. extra commonly, the single which plans ahead.

I try to do my Christmas shopping about a month or so before, just to get it over with and avoid those last-minute crowds and long line-ups at the cash register.

I just think about what I want to get someone and then go get it when I get the chance. I don't "shop", per se.
I actually bought one Christmas present over the summer. If I see something, I just get it.

I don't do it at all I have everyone give me a list of what they want then I hire a "shopper" and get them everything on the lists. I am rich and can do that. It is so much fun.
