After the last gulf war was 'won' it seemed that all the rebuilding contracts went to a 'subsidiary of Haliburton'. How may subsidiaries of Haliburton are there and did any contracts go to anyone else?

Halliburton has about 30 subsidiaries; the complete list as of December 31, 2005, is available here as a part of Halliburton's annual report filed with the SEC:

The subsidiary that got reconstruction contracts in Iraq is probably Kellogg Brown & Root (often referred to as KBR).

30 subsiduaries split into 2 divisions,

ESG - Oil and Gas (Most of the subsiduaries in this, the smaller, division)
KBR - Construction and logistics (Won all those Iraq contratcs)

Some contratcs went elsewhere but when Rumsfeld used to be your CEO and when most southern Senators are shareholders it hardly suprising when US government awards contracts to you
