as this is an opinion question any though out answer will do, so here's mine.
The idea that the UN needs to punish N. Korea is cruel. The UN should be helping N. Korea get back on their feet. There are so many impoverished people over there because of UN sanctions and those sanctions were meant to A.) teach Kim Jong Ill to do what he's told by the UN (a group he's not affiliated with) and B.) get his people to dissagree with the way he runs their country.
Niether happened. In fact the UN just keeps making Kim Jong look like a very good leader to his people. This is because he's been telling people in N. Korea for years that the world is truely against them, and sanctions that make it hard for people to make money or feed their families seems to those poor souls like proof that the world is against them. No wonder tiny little N. Korea has the 4th largest army in the world. No wonder they're trying to build a nuclear bomb. No wonder they don't trust or listen to the UN. We make life sh-tty for them. The two things that will feed a family in N. Korea are the military (4th largest) and the black market ie drugs and firearms. These folks don't have much of a chance to make it in this cruel and dangerous world, and discipline of the kim jong ill regime will be turned into discipline for the n. koreans. everyone in his country will go hungry BEFORE he will. think about that.

good luck with school, remember that they want you to think a certain way and you should always make up your own mind if you can.

The UN can discipline North Korea by taking them over our collective knees and giving them a good, firm spanking. Um, not...

From what I've observed about human beings, we always act quite the opposite of what we're insecure about. The thinnest people believe themselves fat, the smartest greatly fear being outsmarted, and so on.

I guess one thing that resonate is how North Korea seems like a wall-flower who's been forced to go to a party, and just sits in the corner with crossed arms and a scowl made of stone.

I used to be that kid, all angry and thinking I didn't need anybody, but suffering for it. All I needed was someone to offer me friendship, despite my faults.

Not to sound like I'm trying to be the first guy voted Miss Universe, but maybe if countries like the US actually acknowledge North Korea as a country to be respected, they would become a little less hard-edged. Their leader no doubt feels snubbed at every turn, with other countries treating him and his country like an ugly duckling. How do you expect them to act, in the face of disrespect?

Maybe we should offer them something prestigious that they would like, I don't know, maybe hosting the Olympics? Or we could throw a State dinner with a parade for their leader, and an engraved apology and a request to bury the proverbial hatchet?

Now that they've joined the Nuclear Club, they can be cool. Or they can go after respect like those Columbine boys, throwing their weight around and harming the innocent.

But they're not a country of children, and I don't think "disciplining" them is appropriate in the slightest.

Why do we need to do anything with North Korea? What we need to do is get the troops out of Iraq and stop being the worlds police. Korea will self destruct in its own time. Lets do this! Worry about problems in our own contry!!!
