Has anyone gone through this online school? I want(need) a degree to get ahead but like most of us work full time with kids and cannot afford to go down to part time. Please give me honest feedback on this!

It was really wise of you to ask this question before you threw away your hard-earned money.

The ONLY online degrees that are valued in academia in the US are those offered through REGIONALLY accredited schools.

U of Phoenix (and Capella, and AIU, and all those places that advertise all over the web) are not regionally accredited. They are for-profit business that make their money from companies that pay for their employees to take courses. Because these companies pay for the courses, they are usually accepted within each company, but not elsewhere.

Degrees from state-university administered distance education courses are much less expensive than those offered by those fly-by-night diploma mills, and the course credits are universally accepted, and transferable from university to university. (Diploma mill course credits are not.)

I've placed some superb links below to help you.

Bravo for asking the question, and best wishes to you in your search for a quality education!

U of Phoenix is legit, but the debate is still out as to whether or not employers view this particular university as a degree which is as good as other schools which are not seen as "online" universities. You might want to do more digging on the net and see if there are schools which are regular 4-year institutions which are not seen as predominantly "online" schools and look at their online programs. For instance, Penn State's world campus offers several online, bachelors degrees. But, employers would see you as a Penn State grad -- not a "university of phoenix" grad -- if that makes sense. Penn State is just an example -- there are other traditional institutions offering 4-year degrees online these days -- just do some digging around to see what else is out there before you make a final decision. Good luck.

This is actually a really great place to take classes. Both my parents took courses to be recertified for teaching through this place since we don't have anything close to where they live. I also have a close friend completing her MBA through UoP online... She has two boys and a full time job, too. I would highly reccommend this program. Only downfall is the price per credit hour, you can do a bit of research for other online schools, too... but I know this one is acknowledged even by employers from experience.
