According to the Iowa Code, a "child" is a person under 18. Therefore, an 18-yr-old is an adult and may reside independently from his parents or guardians. He may vote in all elections. He may not purchase alcoholic beverages or tobacco products legally.

The age of majority in every state in the union is 18 ... any younger and you must petition the court to become emancipated. Difficult and unwise.

I'm going to guess age 18 because that's when you're considered an adult.

If this has anything to do with your parents I suggest trying to talk to them about it. I'm sure they love you very much.
