Because many women who call themselves 'feminists' are in fact figuratively speaking, demons. If you ever get a chance, go looking up the 'hardcore' so-called feminist articles they have - the ones where they don't allow outside inferance, and then compare it with Aryan Nation articles to get a taste of the rancid nature of these beasts. Understanding the Aryan Nation folks will take you a long way into understanding the modern 'feminist'.
That isn't to say there are no real feminists, but if you want to know why the term is so demonized, that's the answer. There might be some dishonest denial, but the facts speak for themselves.
I am in favor of equality, NOT bigotry.

Why do you ask rhetorical questions? You know gender and difference feminists have hijacked the feminist movement right out from under equity feminists. When that ideological wing of feminism started believing and promulgating utter nonsense, there surely was a predictable backlash. Take back the movement from those type feminist who propose SCUM like solutions, or say that" all men are in conscious conspiracy to keep women in fear ". Men have mothers and sisters that they care for more than other men, so do not try to turn them into closet women, but make common cause with them. Then feminism will be " undemonized ".

I think the reason why "feminist" has become demonized is simple: What rights, under (U.S.) law, do men have that you do not have? Exactly...There are none. So any goal of a feminist must be to obtain special treatment beyond that of the fundamental laws we all already have...The basic premise is not justifiable. The original feminists were seeking employment and the right to vote, etc...They got it. What do you have to complain about? If the original feminists were to come back today they would laugh at the goals of the modern feminist...So basically, I think many people feel that if you are a feminist, it means you are anti-male, and as a result that means you aren't really cool.

It's confusion about semantics. Many people don't know how to look up "feminism" in the dictionary. They appear to think that "feminism" means something similar to "racism".
If one has read and understood the dictionary definition, it becomes clear that "non-feminism" is extremist, i.e. to assert that a person of a different gender (or nationality/ race/ sexual preference/ hair colour/ football team affiliation...) does not merit the same social, political, and other rights as oneself is pretty radical in this day and age.
I'm a little baffled about why many people have this issue back-to-front.

I think that the term it self has come to represent a shift in power from men to women, not to represent someone seeking equality for one and all.
I am totally against anyone- man or woman- who seeks to employ or favour one sex over the other.
perhaps if the pendulum hadn't swung so far from the centre to favour women in certain workplaces the term wouldn't be seen as a slur? just a thought,
Also the term in it self does suggests that a feminist favours women to receive more than men, otherwise wouldn't it be equalist or something similar.
Please note i am in no way sexist, I should make that very clear I believe that people should have equal access in the workplace to succeed and that career paths should be opened up on ability and ability alone.
anyway that is my thought.

There are so many different branches of the feminist movement now that the term is rather non-useful. Liberal feminists just want equal treatment under the law. Structural feminists want to break down all of male-dominated society and build up a female-dominated society. Post-modern feminists question the assumption of 'male' and 'female' as exclusive categories... If even feminists disagree with one another it is easy to see why we've failed to convince the rest of the world that our arguments are right.

You're right - it has become demonised....
The feminist movement was absolutely necessaey - we had been marginalised for far too long. However, there are a few females out there (they with the loudest voices, unfortunately) who are not just for equality, they are totally against men in any shape or form, which, naturally, is just plain wrong, and has done more damage to the true feminist cause than anything else a man could have done.

AN ANOLOGY WILL EXPLAIN IT BETTER
When in war if your targetting an enemy building and there are civilian noncombatants in the area do you carpet bomb the area or use precision laser guided bombs to surgical destroy an enemy building without destroying the neighborhood ?
In much the same way some of the language of gender based femmenism has advocated all men are bad as opposed to some men are bad .Some have carpet bombed the concept of masuclinty to near oblivion . Where have all the cowboys in white hats gone ?The cowboys in the white hats are deap in there bunkers riding out the carpet bombing attack .
Femmensim should used language that metaphoricly was laser guided and precision based .Instead of giving men the feeling that we were all targeted.
Some Femmenist also do not take constructive critiscim very well.
Some femmenist will not acknologdge double standards that favor women . Most men dont want to actualy take compleltly thoses double standards that favor women completly away .They just dont want certain women exploiting these double standards is all.
By the way i grew up In a moderatly liberal Democrat family

This is a fair question. Unfortunately, the most vocal of feminists are generally very extreme kinds of people who give the rest a bad name. Me, I'm just a human being, equal among other human beings.

It's really quite simple: The results of feminism are that the marriage rate has constantly declined, the divorce rate has constantly inclined, wages have not increased, house prices have increased, presumption of GUILT laws favouring a woman's word are proliferated, women think "strong" is "selfish and abusive", yet accuse men of abuse more than ever and I'm not even started.
Seems like a good reason to demonise it to me.
