I wouldn't call it an act of desperation, because if you really love someone you can't HELP loving them; it's involuntary, not something you sit down, think over and decide. Now, that doesn't mean you should let someone use and abuse you! If you love someone and they don't love you, the only thing you can do is either try to be just friends or else avoid that person entirely. I know, easier said than done...

deep; that's a question for the philosophers.
I think it is. At least, until you are doing it out of a maturity, as a healthy parent should love their child unconditionally, usually if you you think you love someone unconditionally it actually turns out to be conditional, you just don't want to think about that one condition where you wouldn't love the person anymore- for some people, if the child was gay, or if the woman were sleeping with another man, or if a best friend suddenly and completely betrayed you out of nowhere

No I don't think it's an act of desperation, I just don't know if it's possible. Many years ago, when I was much younger "unconditional love" sounded very romantic. Now I believe that unconditional love only applies to my children. Yet I thought, what if one of my children killed their sibling out of anger?? I'm not sure I could fully love the remaining child.
Remember, you must first love yourself unconditionally.

No, it is an act of desperation to accept being treated wrongly. To stay with someone regardless of how they treat you is wrong. You cannot truly love at all if it is not unconditionally. To master the ability to love someone in spite of how they treat you or what they have done is to truly love as we are supposed too. It does not mean we should allow someone to treat us wrongly. We have a responsibility to show them right from wrong by not permitting them to treat us wrongly just because we love them. Did that make sense?

I don't think it's desperation to love anyone if the people are in a healthy place.
Those 2 words only go together when the people involved are in a sick place.

It's an act of courage and faith. But it isn't something you can create by trying. You just feel that way or you don't. Very few people love unconditionally.

It's not desperation sweetie to love someone no matter what. I think it's when you can't be who you are just to please them it's too much then. Still love them, just can't be with them.
