DO NOT USE DAWN!!! In fact don't use any carwash that was not meant for sport bikes. Let me explain. Sport bike tires are very sticky and soft if they were hard rubber like cars you would never be able to corner the way that they are intended to. Because of this softness the tires contain alot of oils (that keep the rubber soft) using any sort of a degreasing soap will suck these oils out of the tires making your tire hard and will cause it to dryrot. This is not safe at all. ONLY use soaps/washes and other products made for sportbikes, they'll cost more but are worth it. You can get away with using car washes but NEVER use dawn.

Hands down the best thing to wash your sport bike, I've found, is the S100 Total Cycle Cleaner. It's amazing stuff. Spray it on the rims, and it does an awesome job getting the brake dust and crud off. I don't know what they put in it, or if it's bad for the enviroment or anything, but whatever it is will make your bike shine like new. The only additional comment I'd say is that you really need to make sure you rinse it all off. I use it pretty much anywhere there's a lot of crud on the bike, but I'd keep it away from the chain I guess.

Wash it like it is a car. Use any old car wash soap. Don't use stuff for dishes. I like to use the spray car wash wands that cost quarters, dry the seat, ride it home to start dryikng it, finish it with a soft towel at home.
But when done use "honda polish" on everything but the seat and tank where your legs go. Makes it look NEW and keep bugs off of the front. There is another product like it but it is not as good and more expensive.
Don't forget to use a good chain lube that stays on after.

Mean Green-purchase in 1 gal bottle @ Dollar Store for $5. Mix 50/50 w/ water in a spray bottle. Spray the whole bike- top to bottom. Use a wet sponge on problem area. Spray w/ jet setting on garden hose - rinse w/full & then mist settings on garden hose.
Dry w/ leaf blower. Use Honda spray polish and clean soft terry towels. I use Windex on my chrome.

I splurge for regular car-wash soap. Treat it like a vehicle, not "garage jewelry".
