The first answer is correct.

"He didn't go to the party because he hadn't been invited."

"hadn't been invited" is the past perfect simple, and it is used to talk about one past action that happened before another past action. In this case, he wasn't invited BEFORE he didn't go, so you put the verb "invited" in the past perfect simple.

It's a bit jumbled because it's using past tense and future tense.

He didn't go to the party because he wasn't invited.

he didn't go to the party, since he WASN'T invited.
Although a better sentence without passive verbs would be:
"Tom" chose to stay home from the party, since he did not receive an invitation.

Well, when using contractions, say the sentence the way it would be if the contraction was not present.
He did not go to the party since he would not be invited.
The sentence should read, he did not go to the party since he was not invited...or:
He didn't go to the party since he wasn't invited.

didn't is past tense. wouldn't is future tense. They don't match up . what's with "since?" I would use "because."
