In Kingdom of Heaven,
What is the main source of conflict in the film? How is the conflict resolved? How does the ending suggest that the resolution won't hold?

If you watched the movie you would have no difficulty figuring out that the conflict is between Christians and Muslims.

It was based on the Crusades where Saladin or Sala-el-din was the leader of the Muslim forces & the Christians were led by the crooked Guy de Lusignan who broke the truce between the Christians & Muslims by attacking the Muslim caravan & an incompetent king (not the leper King as you saw in the film).

Had they listened to the wise counsel of Raymond of Tripoli, they would have averted the fiasco at the Battle of Hattin where they were routed by Saladin.

The conflict started when the holy Christian sites were occupied by the Muslims & the Christians desired to retake the holy lands. The Crusades ended in total defeats for the Christians who unfortunately were more interested in adventure & spoils of war than fighting for a common cause.

You may also want to watch History Channel for that two-part series called the Crusades.
