always remember your lifters and rockerarms and oil push rods, need proper lubication and even on older engines with wear as well as new ones make sure your oil tempture reaches a desireable level and its not cold on take offs thus saving vital engine parts also engine oil cold has less viscosity and would recommend trying out full synthetic......on next oil change seeing that they have super seeded and past all conventional oil test....thus added protection.......proper engine warm up is key and then you can cruise that baby winter or summer....

The engine doesn't care how cold it is as long as the choke works. Drive like an old man until the engine warms up and you will have no problems. I'm driving a 77 Caprice with a 350. Yesterday it was 10F when I went out to eat and do some shopping. It has 156,000+ miles on it. It's a balmy 19F now, Wisconsin winters, love them or go South.

drive it all you want in the colder months. these are some of the best engines ever made, those chevy small blocks. just make sure that when you first start it after it hasn't ran in awhile, like 12 hours or more, you let the engine warm up for at least 2 minutes. this will help your bearings properly lubricate, because the engine isn't under load with cold, thick oil that can't lubricate correctly.

No. A blanket won't heat up a chilly engine. It was a trick some time past to try this to catch some heat temperature in there mutually as the engine replace into nonetheless heat, pointless if this is stone chilly. after all, in those days anti-freeze replace into some thing that few people nonetheless of till too late. you may desire to at present have ideal coolant on your gadget all the time which isn't purely corrosion resistant yet additionally an antifreeze.
