Two wrongs make a right.
People use this excuse that because someone else has done it it's alright.
Ex.
Jim borrows John's hedge trimmers with out asking figuring he'll return it before John even realizes it's missing. Once Jim finishes he's a bit tired and decides to wait until tomorrow to return it. The next day comes and Jim forgets he borrowed it. Months go by and one day Jim stumbles upon it and instead of returning it he chalks it up to the idea that if John had done it he wouldn't have returned it either.
So because Jim figures John would have done the same thing it makes it alright.

One fallacy that is common is known as "Appeal to Authority".

To appeal to authority means that you look at someone as an authority when they really are not qualified as such. An example is commercials on TV. Catherine Zeta-Jones walks on screen holding a phone and says that you should buy it. However, she is only going by what she is told to say. The real authorities on what makes a good phone are behind the scenes--developing new phone technologies to make customers happy.

Hope this helps!
