with a tailwind a jet flew 2000 miles in 4 hours, but thereturn trip against the same wind required 5 hours. find the jets speed and the wind speed. please explain your answer

W = Wind's speed
J = Jet's speed

J - W = 2000/5 = 400
J = 400 + W
W + J = 2000/4 = 500 = W + 400 + W = 2W + 400
W = 50
J = 450

This is identical to the other problem you've posted...Only the numbers change...The approach is the same.

You need more info to do the problem. The wind speed is a constant, but you don't know what it is, so if you knew the wind speed, then you could find out the speed of the jet.
