Im trying to remember the name of this mostly animated kids film. It has to be 25 years old and I believe it was european.

A gift wrapped box arrives for a young boy which when unwrapped turned into a gateway into an animated world which he drove through in a red car (how he knew how to drive is beyond me).

It had the usual good and evil plotline that most childrens movies have (I think).

Well thats not much to do on but for some reason this popped back into my mind and its such a vague memory Im trying to see if I can identify the movie.

Thanks to all, well I googled the Phantom Tollbooth and it is the movie I was thinking of. It was also made in 1968 so its way older than I thought (as old as me).

Now if I can only work out why a movie I saw once as a kid popped into my mind again after over 2 decades.

It is the Phantom Tollbooth as two other people have already said. It stared Butch Patrick. You may remember him better as Eddie Munster. Mel Blanc did most of the cartoon voices for the animated part. It's a fun movie.

The Phantom Tollbooth!! I loved that movie.
I remember The Dodecahedron. The movie had a lot of math and spelling in it.
