I have PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome) and take birth control to regulate my period. I hadn't taken the pill for quite a few months because I didn't have health insurance to cover the prescription. Since I had stopped I didn't get it (which is normal with PCOS), but now that I took it this month, I got my period, and it's the worst it's ever been. I've gone a while without my period before and never had it THIS BAD afterwards.
I don't have health insurance again until February, so I'm going to have to stop taking the pill again, and can't see the doctor until then. But, does this seem ok? Or do you think it's bad? (I'm not talking the usual heavy flow. it's BAD.) Thanks!

Your heavy flow is due to your body adjusting to the pill after being off of it for a few months.

If you keep on taking the pills, your body should adjust within a few months.

Keep on taking the pills until February and see what happens by the time you see the doctor. Your periods could be normal by then.

No health insurance until February? Oy. You might want to go to a free clinic. I'm no doctor, but if it seriously concerns you it probably won't get better in three months.

There may or may not be a drug-free solution. Damn our drug-obsession.

Sorry I couldn't be much help.

You can probably get the pill from Planned Parenthood, they have it for a drastically reduced price (I think it's $7 a pack or at least it was a few years ago.)

more than likely it is due to going off the pill
if it is more serious see your dr
