Use a full, round brush for the application of your powder blush, as it will make for a softer and more professional look than the brush that comes with the blush. This should not be the same brush you use to apply your loose powder. Place a small amount of blush on the brush and gently tap off any excess. Or, place a small amount of cream on your middle finger. Look in the mirror and smile. Place powder blush on the apple of your cheek and gently brush up your cheekbone toward your hairline. Dot cream blush beginning at the apple, and gently blend up the cheekbone toward the hairline. Focus your blush at the outside of your face near your hairline if you have a fuller face. For high cheekbones, concentrate blush in the center of your face to accentuate your bones.Blend a little blush down your cheek for a little more natural, less dramatic look.

Begin by lining up your brush with your eyeball. Look straight into the mirror to do this. Tap your brush before you apply it to knock off any excess blush. Where ever you put the brush first will deposit the most color. Put it on in a 'swoosh' (like Nike) starting mid-cheek (the apple when you smile) and ending in front of the hairline. Blend it in with your fingers or the brush itself. The idea is to enhance your skin, not to make it look fake or overdone. It's also important to select a color that looks good on you to flatter your skin tones. You can get this done for free from any Mary Kay consultant or at the cosmetic counter in any large retail store. Have fun!!

For winter, any where from tinted pink to rosy is acceptable. Just do not go overboard! If your complexion is very light, or porcelain, use just a bit, for a tint of pink, and get a color that is pretty much your skin tone, but just a TINY bit pinker. If your complexion is medium, use enough for you to be able to see the color, and buy blush that is a rosy pink. Also, use a big brush that you will need to buy seperatly, because the small brushes that blush comes with is useless, believe me. Use the absolute BIGGEST brush!!! That is the key!

Rub a large makeup brush over the powder and then tap it a few times on the edge of the sink to get rid of excess. Then smile and run the brush over your cheeks once or twice where they bulge out from the smiling.

You don't want to look like you have a sunburn on your cheeks, just a hint of color. If you are still unsure, go to your local book store, to the self help section. There are many books, with pictures, on how to apply makeup. That is how I learned

Get a light or nude blush and a really good brush.
Now smile really big and dust the blush onto the apples of your cheeks.

Just a wee bit, trust me. I have naturally bright, rosy cheeks. Not too appealing. So just a dab or two.
