i have a friend that is moving away at the end of this year to georgia, and i live in california. i only befriended her last year, but we have become awesome best friends. i will really miss her and she promises to write. do you think i should organize a going-away party for her?

okay. throw her one. my friend is moving too. but only 3 cities away. and like we have only been friends for about a year. i am throwing her one. all of her friends will be there. and some of mine too. since most of my friends are her friends too.
throw her one. just make sure not to invite ONLY your friends. invite a couple of your friends, yes, but mainly her friends that will miss her. GOOD LUCK!

I think that's a wonderful idea. It's a good way to show that you are really thinking about her going away. The time and effort you invest into this party will really tell your friend how much you care about her and all.
