He is a combination of cool / academic and very intelligent, although still likes to fool around like any other kid.

I don't want to give him clothes, money or a gift voucher, I would rather he had something to unwrap but I'm not really clued in as to what is popular for boys these days.

In the past he has had books, fishing gear, kite, lego, model making kits, remote control car, etc -

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - thanks

At the age of 11 a boy is fast leaving behind the magical, whistful, mythical, awe-inspiring, kind of thinking, feeling, and being and is headed full throttle into the mathematical, mechanical, logical way of thinking feeling and being....

So my suggestion would be to give him something that reminds him of the wonders and magic of childhood that he would keep with him for life.... something to inspire him to never completely leave behind the things of childhood...

Do not go with things that are popular rather look for something that is a thing which he will always relate to his childhood and the wonders of it all.

I would suggest making a book, (lots of basic computer programmes can help with this like Publisher), that has photos of him doing every day things and also the things that have happened during his childhood, not just the many things he has experienced first hand but also include things of the world that have happened since he was born, do some research to find out some medical marvels that have happened, find out some industrial break throughs, include lots of things from lots of countries that have happened in the eleven years of his life.... If you stop and think about it there are many new and innovative things that have happened in the last eleven years...and include some of the great artisitc and musical developments too.... you can make the book quite a volume of his childhood.

It's amazing.

it depends on how much you're willing to spend on him.

-if he is in to sports give him things like footballs

-legos are still great gifts for 11 year olds.

-if you want to spend a little more money on him things like gameboys are good.

hope this helps
