It's for school. I need to memorize a short story by December 20th and present it in front of class. It should take me no more than 5 minutes. I'm having trouble finding a good one, does anyone have any suggestions?

-The length should be no less than 500 words, no more than 1000
-It should be a known story, I can't do anything that hasn't been published
-Anytype of story will do. A war story would be fine, love story, mystery, story w/ irony, childrens story. Anything is good.
-I don't have to memorize EVERY word but I should know it well enough to be able to get most of the words right

Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour" would be great for this assignment, it sounds like. Very short, but easy to memorize, I would think.

I have no idea as to the word count, but here are two short stories that I really liked:

The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, 1924
The Lady or the Tiger by Frank Stockton, 1882

Check out Hemingway's stuff "ON the Quai at Smyrna" is a good one. There is probably a book at your library or Barnes and Noble that is a collection of his short stories, you could go through them and find one you like.
