Here are a few options:
1) Camp in camping chairs - you will earn $2-3L for every 10 minutes that you camp. This is good for when you aren't going to be at your computer a lot, or are doing something else and have SL running in the background.
2) Become a host at a club. This often pays $50-300L per hour for hosting events. This can be a lot of fun too, as you get to meet lots of new people.
3) Become a dancer at a club. You will get tips for this as well as an hourly payment from the club.
4) Start building items of your own and sell them. It doesn't cost you any money to build, and you have the rights to the items that you make. Search for Teazers in the game and they have great building classes.
5) Offer a service and charge for that. Examples: DJing, photography, etc. These require skills, and you may need to do a freebie or two before you get paid so you have references.
