There is no way that your personal details held by your employer should be shown to any third party.
The only exception to this rule is if a uniformed police officer with a warrant, asks to see the details.
Now for the difficult part, stay calm, and don't accuse anybody of anything. Gather information about what has happened, and seek advice from a solicitor.
The bottom line is your boss is responsible for keeping your details secure, and any failure in this could lead to further investigations.
Hope you manage to sort things out.

Be sure of your facts before you jump in with two feet. You may have a case for a tribunal. But be well armed with the facts.
How did you find out that this other member of staff had been in your files. Not someone trying to wind you up is it, by feeding you misinformation? There are some real rotters out there and whilst I am not playing the devils advocate here, do get the facts right first.
If you find it to be true bide your time then kick them in the balls, once you get right firmly on your side.

Nobody, apart from your boss has the right to see your file,as it contains all your personal information.
Under the data protection act,it would classed as an invasion of privacy.
I guess the least that would happen would be a caution or written warning, the most, they could lose their job.

...hi.
some discrepancy here between your bolded and unbolded submitted content.
in your bolded content you say ...."...and i found a member of staff looking through it..."
in your unbolded content you say ...."...and found out another member of staff ..."
now these may be separate events which you have failed to make clear or these may be contradictory and therefore unclear.
but i want to comment on data protection.
first of all...the reason data is protected is because of social conditions which exist or are believed to exist which may compromise the safety/health and prosperity of no particular individual.
but the reason data is sought and therefore vulnerable is due social conditions which are believed to exist which make it possible (and credible) for an other to know/discover information which may be similarly construed for purpose(s) to protect the person(s)/value(s)/information(s) of other(s) which may be different than and therefore affect the person(s) seeking and disseminating.
to know what can happen to this person you inform of (with or without having proof) is to know what is/are the priorities of value(s) which are erected/practiced by the company you are employed with. ..... another question may be....
what will happen to you if the company determines that the person whom sought and shared information of you will defend/support the person(s) which have compromised your personal information...??
purpose(s) and proof(s)....
will determine all outcomes...
let us hope that ideals are clear.
be well

all those who legally can personal a handgun (ie: no legal or attack convictions) might want to be able to carry everywhere they need. "The guidelines that forbid the wearing of fingers ... disarm purely those who're neither vulnerable nor wanting to dedicate crimes. Can that's meant that those who've the braveness to violate the most sacred guidelines of humanity ... will respect the a lot less significant and arbitrary ones ... Such guidelines make issues worse for the assaulted and extra useful for the assailants, they serve truly to inspire than to circumvent homicides, for an unarmed guy might want to correctly be attacked with better self assurance than an armed guy." — Thomas Jefferson i imagine all instructors and crew and in faculties students should be allowed to carry. imagine about it....if one guy is going nuts and starts shooting the position up, what number extra guns are going to be pointed decrease back at him.... Gun free Zones purely artwork if everyone follows the rule of thumb. at the moment the purely ones that save on with this are the regulation abiding.... further: what the heck is this usa coming to even as human beings remember on police and authorities to guard them....hi...did everyone forget the reason why we are right here and what "governement's" function performed even as this usa became formed.... in case you call your self an American develop some. "yet even as a lengthy practice of abuses and usurpations, pursuing continuously a similar merchandise evinces a layout to reduce them lower than absolute Despotism, it really is their perfect, it really is their duty, to throw off such authorities, and provide new Guards for his or her destiny safe practices." If something is being finished hostile to somebody else or to you that you don't love, do something about IT. do not purely stand by and imagine it really is someone's "interest" to fix the placement....If even some students or crew were armed at Virginia Tech 32 would no longer have died. If extra reliable human beings were armed in the time of their day, a lot less undesirable adult men would ruin out with armed robbery, rape, and homicide over 10 money. each person has a situation with what I suggested, bypass to England...I hear their finished gun ban is operating purely high quality.... "use of handguns to dedicate crimes rose 40% 2 years following the completed ban on guns." This is clearly a breach of confidence and trust and the person breaching it can be prosecuted, take it all the way, this type of person is not fit to be in any position of trust.
Your firm has a duty of care that has been breached and as such they also are liable to court jurisdiction.

It depends on the company. Several things could happen ranging from his termination to them having a GOOD LAUGH AT YOUR EXPENSE. it will all depend on the circumstances and the boss.

If they are admin there job description may allow them access to your file. if not you can make a greivence. Their act may be interpreted as gross misconduct. You should do that 1st or you probably wont be well received at any formal legal hearing.
