UPDATE: Well, I was only half serious, but, having read the good common sense posted here, I've decided to make a donation to an animal sanctuary that cares for great cats, and get a regular kitten.
Thanks to everyone!

Hi there...I work with several individuals in our organization who care for ocelots. They require x-amount of funding, work, dedication and time to keep and one has to change their lifestyle. Keeping one means less time for other social activities as well. I have found an article written by one of our members which I'll pass along to you so you can see the inordinate amount of consideration which is required to care for this exotic cat: http://www.phoenixexotics.org/cs-ocelot.html

Somebody probably has, but it's not a smart idea. Ocelots are wild animals...not any different from a lion other than it's size. Anyways, it's illegal to have a ocelot baby because they are endangered.

There were quite a few kept as pets Quite successfully back in the 1960's.
These were mainly breed for the pet market.
And most were kept in far better conditions that so called experts did in prisons ooops zoos!
Then along rightfully or wrongly came the inevitable ball of red tape!
Which put paid to that!

Unless you have a special permit and license to own and house wild animals, it's probably illegal to own an Ocelot where you live.

why????? they are wildcats and will react to their instincts and could seriously hurt you. plus, theyre endangered so you probably can't get one unless you have a zoo license. there are some exotic cats like bengal cats that have been produced from crossbreeding with ocelots that share its looks and wild qualities.

You want to keep a wild cat as a pet?
Have you considered a Bengal cat? They look very similar, but are domesticated...

No, and as a former zookeeper, I strongly discourage you from doing so. Wild animals are NOT pets.

no illegal but clostest would be getting a permit building suitable /secure habitat get some training on handling them and run a breeding program or a rehab center for them.
