We adopted the neighborhood stray a couple years ago, and true to his breed, he is quite high-strung. He loves most people who come over, but there is one guy in particular whom he can't stand and will bark nonstop when this guy makes any noise, stands up, etc.
This guy thinks it's kinda funny, and will glare menacingly at the dog sometimes when I'm not in the room, and playfully take an attacking stance and act like he's coming after the dog, which doesn't help!
Keeping him in the bathroom with the door shut is an option, but it's not any fun when he's used to being next to me.
Is there something that has worked for anyone else that I can try? I'm sure he needs obedience lessons, yes, but I'm open to any other ideas. Thanks!

First off your house guest who is teasing your dog is abusing him. NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT LET YOUR HOUSE GUEST CONTINUE TO DO THIS!!!! It reinforces the behavior. Your dog is protecting you and it's home from someone it doesn't like. Dogs are an excellent judge of character. A shock collar to me is inhumane. The pet stores care a different type of collar that sprays a scent instead. Also call an Dog Obedience Trainer. They worked wonders on my pooch.

he is most likely being over protective of his home and his human. my 2 rat terriers are the same way. i would suggest a shock collar that u can control. starting off with it on the lowest level and he starts barking give him a verbal warning and shock him once. continuing to do this and use rewards when he obeys should help. have ur house guest reward with treats so he gets more comfortable with them. also the guy teasing does not help the situation
